This is a blog I do – just as a place to chat about what I’m reading, what I’ve just finished reading, and what I plan to read next.
If you’ve read any of these books, please let me know!
What I’ve Finished
This week I finished Emperor of Thorns.
A truly remarkable book – and definitely a series I will re-read.

What I’m Currently Reading
I’ve changed from audiobook to hardback for The Shadow of the Gods.
I really liked the narrator, but I don’t travel enough anymore to make listening to audiobooks worthwhile.
Anyway – I’m about 30% in – and John Gwynne is already breaking hearts. I’m really enjoying the POV of Varg and Orka, but the world itself is very interesting too. It’s definitely drawing me in and I’m excited to see where the story will lead.
I’ve avoided all reviews so I’m not sure what the plot is. The only review I caught was the emoji one by Nils Shukla, so I’m expecting cheese to feature at some stage! 😂 🧀
I’m still reading River Kings. I’ve dipped in and out for research, but I’m loving the information about Vikings – especially as relates to trade routes in this era. Very interesting. Now that I’ve reviewed the parts of interest, I’m going to read it all.
What I’m Reading Next
So, now that The Shadow of the Gods is well underway – I’ve had to think a little more about what is next.
Dune (the movie) is released in a few weeks, so I think that I will go for it first. I’m a little apprehensive as I haven’t read science fiction before. However, I’m really intrigued by this story and lots of friends have told me there are fantasy elements – so I’m going to give it a go.
After that, it’s an indie book called Ringlander.
I think it’s on a blog tour at the minute and some great reviews have been posted. I’m very excited to start this!
I’m doing another book club read with the Fantology discord group – which is starting next week.
I always enjoy a book club read and getting to chat about it afterwards, and this book has been on my radar for a while. I’m very excited to get started!
I’m averaging about a book a week at the moment, so from the looks of things, I have a great October planned!
