TBR – MAY & JUNE 2021

In an attempt to organise my reading for the next couple of months, I’ve made this blog post. These are the books I want to read in the next two months – ambitious maybe, but why not!

Book Club

I’m reading The Priory of the Orange Tree as part of the Fantology book club – go to their discord group if you want to join.

This beautiful book has been on my shelf for a while, but the sheer size was a little intimidating. Perfect then for a book club so there are lots of people to chat with as I read along. There are six chapters, and we’ve decided to go for a chapter per week.

I can’t wait to get started!

Readalong

I’m progressing nicely through Deadhouse Gates. It’s very plot driven – and so much happens at times it takes me a while to digest it. I am looking forward to starting Memories of Ice. I believe some characters we met in Gardens of the Moon come back! Yay! Kruppe and Whiskeyjack!!

Seeing as these are both HUGE books, I’m not committing to finishing Memories of Ice by the end of June, but who knows!! Perhaps Kruppe’s madness will pull me along.

I’m also reading this as part of a discord group readalong – go to undertheradarbooks – blaise for short! – on twitter for the link if you fancy chatting about Malazan.

Self-Published

I’ve nearly finished Cold From the North by D.W Ross – and I am absolutely loving it. Seeing as it was so good, as so many self-published books are these days, I wanted to have another one on my TBR.

I’ve read one or two amazing reviews for Black Stone Heart – and of course it won the Booknest Award 2020 for best self-published book, which is high praise indeed.

I also have Dragon Mage by ML Spencer on my kindle. I’m saving that for my caravanning holiday in July though. I’m thinking it will suit the wild north coast of Ireland!

Series Read

I’m absolutely loving Brian Staveley’s Unhewn Throne trilogy. I’m coming up on half way through Providence of Fire now – and so plan to read The Last Mortal Bonds next. Oh, and I got approved for The Empire’s Ruin on NetGalley – which is set in the same world as the Unhewn Throne, but is the start of a new story. I can’t wait to read both of these!!

Time For More?

Can I fit one more in?? Maybe two??

I don’t know – I said my list was ambiguous – so hopefully!!

I really want to read a novel by someone I haven’t read before, and I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about Rebecca Roanhorse recently. So if I have time, I will get to Black Sun in June, if not, there is alway July!

This is another book that I’m desperate to read. The Jasmine Throne only comes out in June, so I might just fit it in.

As I said at the top, I’d love to hear your thoughts on my TBR – and if we have any of the same books, let me know!
